Stop Living Like This Is Normal

Every ancestor in your line survived. Every single one.

Through plague. Through famine. Through war, predators, childbirth, and a billion small accidents that should have broken the chain. None of them broke it. The coin landed your way every time, for four billion years.

Then you arrived.

Your exact genome has never existed before. It will never exist again. You are a one-time event in the history of the universe.

Sit with that until it scares you.

The Lie

Here is the trick the world plays on you. It makes all of this look normal.

The sky. Your hands. The person across the table. The fact that any of it exists at all. The world hands you a story where everything is ordinary, expected, just the way things are.

It is a mirage. A soft, comfortable lie.

Nothing here is normal. Nothing. You are a statistical impossibility, walking around inside a universe that did not have to produce you, looking at miracles all day and calling them Tuesday.

Once you see the lie, you cannot unsee it. Good. Now act like it.

Say It Now

You are going to die. So is everyone you love. You do not know the day.

So why are you saving your words?

You think someone is brilliant. Tell them. You admire how a friend handles pressure. Say it out loud. You love someone. They should hear it today, not at the funeral.

“I will say it later.” Later is a bet you keep making with a house that always wins.

Give the compliment. Risk being misread. Worst case, a moment of awkwardness. Best case, you hand another person proof that they mattered, while they are still here to feel it.

Never shy away from telling someone they are special. Not once. Not ever.

Go All In

Pick a thing. Do it at full volume.

If you run, run until your lungs scream. If you lift, lift until the bar bends your will. If you dress, wear the good clothes today, not for the occasion that never comes. Bring intensity to what you do, what you say, and how you live. That is what a life fully lived looks like.

Then aim higher than is comfortable. Set goals big enough to scare you. Refuse to quit them.

Nietzsche said it cleaner than anyone: “I know of no better life purpose than to perish in attempting the great and the impossible.”

What is the point of the visit if you spend it reaching for nothing?

Optimism Is Fuel

Optimism is not a personality trait. It is a power source.

Believe the thing can happen and your body floods with energy to chase it. Believe it cannot and you sit still. You cannot execute a single ambitious plan on an empty tank. Optimism is how you fill it.

This is not denial. It is strategy. The optimist and the pessimist both guess about the future. Only one of them has the energy to act on the guess.

Survivor, Never Victim

Your circumstances will sometimes be unfair. They were unfair for most people who ever lived.

Do not reach for the victim’s chair. It looks like comfort. It is a trap.

Victimhood drains the one thing you cannot afford to lose: the sense that you can still move the outcome. It takes your energy. It takes your agency. It rots you from the inside while feeling like relief.

Be the other thing. Be the one who took the hit and kept walking. Survivor, not victim. Every time.

Close

The universe spent fourteen billion years arranging the conditions for you to read this sentence.

It did not do that so you could play it safe.

This was never normal. Stop pretending it is.
